  Not every person who wants to, can truly serve the Lord. Excitement and desire to serve are not the only requisites to serve our Almighty Lord. There are very important aspects which requires a deep understanding to serve the Lord, in his will and for his purpose. Undoubtedly, a strong desire deep from the heart is important, however in the book of Daniel Chapter 1:4 God tells us the requirements or qualifications that a  person needs to serve the Lord. One must be without blemish, pure and holy in all ways to serve the Lord. He must be separated from the world and must be well favored in the eyes of the Lord. No matter how great you are in the eyes of men, being meek and humble before God and Men will make you worthy to serve him in the truest form. God sees your inner heart. He understands your deepest desires. He is only asking for a quiet and meek spirit to serve him. Nothing more does he desire of you. Are you perfect without any blemish? I was born and brought up in a Roman Catholic family and was very strong in catholic beliefs and customs. Reading the bible and attending Sunday Church was more or like only a Sunday chore for me. We are blessed because we are alive today, we are blessed because we have a lovely family, we are blessed for the good jobs we have, we are blessed for the food we have to eat, we are blessed because we have a shelter above our heads, and even if we have none of the above we are blessed because we are called to be his children and have been chosen and seperated to be a holy nation unto him. It is important to give thanks to the Lord in all situations. Apostle Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 - "In everything give thanks ; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you". As a believer we may have many ups and downs in life, many trials and tribulations, but in all those circumstances if you keep thanking God and praising him, he will bless you with the grace to overcome all those situations. But, in order to have that relationship we must be prepared to live a separated life. A separated life means separation from this world, separation from your desires of this world, separation from worldly love & lust, separation from everything that makes you unclean.
