Prayer

Prayer is the conversation we have with God. In this world we are so much delighted and excited to have conversations. Conversations with family, friends, neighbours, colleagues, church members etc. But when it comes to conversation with God we are bored, we are tired, we are sleepy, we are less interested, we dont have time, we are busy. We have a thousand excuses when it comes to prayer. Why is it so? What is it that is stopping you? Recently I came across a post which said "Satan tries to limit your praying because he knows that your praying will limit him" which I think is 100% true.

It is very important in a believer's life to dedicate a part of his/her day to God. Prayer is the most important aspect in leading a Christian life. You may think the basic needs of human survival are just food, water, shelter and clothing. Well, I would say that you may survive without any one of them or may be even without all of them, but without prayer, life is impossible.

If you never had prayer time in your life earlier, then start right now. You can incorporate prayer at this very moment wherever you are. "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you openly" (Mathew 6:6).

There are few important elements in prayer. One of then is humbling yourself and confessing your wrong doings whether it be knowingly or unknowingly in your words, actions or even thoughts. Until and unless your conscience is clear you will never be able to pray wholeheartedly.

Another important trait you must have is trust and belief in your heavenly Father for it is said in Mark 11:24 of the Holy Bible-"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours". All that you need to believe is Our Lord is a prayer answering God and nothing is impossible with him. If it is in his will then definitely what you pray for will not go unanswered.

Pray without ceasing in all circumstances of life. "Is anyone among you in trouble? Let him pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise"(James 5:13).

When you pray, you may pray for yourself, your family members and loved ones, your church members, your colleagues and friends, but the word of God says that it is most important to pray for those people who hate you and persecute you. "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Mathew 5:44).

It is not necessarily required that you are eloquent and you pray long prayers. For our Lord does not look at your eloquence or your words. He looks at your heart and he knows your heart completely in and out. "And when you pray, do not keep babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words" (Mathew 6:7).

Pray wholeheartedly and continually in all situations. Prayer can be a two way conversation if only you are ready to listen. Do not cease to pray. Medidate on the word of God and pray. For his word is the breath of life and he is life himself.
